Observations from Flyers vs Coyotes post thumbnail image

The Flyers came from behind to hand the Arizona Coyotes their sixth straight loss on Monday night. Meanwhile, the Flyers have now won four straight, and below are a few positives I observed throughout the game.

Morgan Frost Was Dynamic

I am not sure what Morgan Frost has against the Coyotes, but he seems to show up when they come together. Frost not only scored on a pretty penalty shot, but he also drew three penalties throughout the game. Often, Frost dictated play with the puck and had the defense on their heels. For more than a month now, Frost has been this player—the dynamic center the Flyers have so desperately needed him to be.

Scott Laughton’s Back

Laughton has looked good for two games in a row now, battling inconsistency for most of the season. He now has three points in his last two games after recording two points against the Coyotes, including the game-winning wrap-around goal.

Jamie Drysdale May be Rubbing Off on Cam York

York was easily the Flyers’ best defenseman in the first period of tonight’s game, looking comfortable quarterbacking the Flyers’ first power play unit. York used his skating to create space for teammates while possessing the puck and managed to get shots on goal. Flyers fans will want to see more of that.

Flyers Play Another Smothering Third Period

The Flyers are putting teams away late in games during their current four-game win streak, as they just aren’t allowing their opponents many scoring chances. Tonight, they gave up just six shots to Arizona in the third, and Sam Ersson was up to the task on all six to help preserve the victory.
