With just weeks left until the NHL Draft, the Philadelphia Flyers could have a new front-runner for their Hockey Ops position.

According to Anthony Di Marco of The Fourth Period, Ed Olczyk is a candidate the Philadelphia Flyers are keen on.

A former player for the Blackhawks, Maple Leafs, Jets, Rangers, Penguins, and Kings, Olczyk has been in broadcasting for the past 20 years and is well liked and respected amongst the NHL and hockey community.

On July 12, 2012, Olczyk was elected into the United States Hockey Hall of Fame as a member of the Chicago Blackhawks. Olczyk also played in nine different events for the United States team during his career.

In 2017 Olczyk announced he had form of Colon cancer. He would undergo procedures to remove the tumor and in 2018 announced that he was cancer free.

A winner of multiple awards during his broadcasting career, Olczyk has called games alongside of broadcasting greats in Doc Emeric, Ray Ferraro, Kenny Albert, and John Forslund.

Currently Olczyk is part of the broadcast team for Seattle Kraken after a contract dispute with the Chicago Blackhawks forced him to leave the organization he once played for.
