Boston Bruins @ Philadelphia Flyers
Coming off a 4-3 shootout loss to the Lightning on Thursday, our Flyers host the Boston Bruins tonight. There’s wins to be had and money to be made, the Gambler’s Guide lays it all out for you. All odds are from Draftkings Sportsbook.
Money Line and Total
The Flyers remain consistently inconsistent as they have now alternated wins and losses for ten straight games and enter tonight’s contest as the underdog at +115. Despite the shootout loss to Tampa Bay the Flyers continued to play well at home, 4-2-2. Philadelphia is 3-1-0 versus the Bruins (-135) in their last four games but over the last ten meetings Boston owns the better head to head record at 6-3-1.
The Bruins are 2-6-0 in their last eight away games and already lost a game in Philadelphia this year, 6-3, on Oct. 20. Considering the Flyers strong home play, Boston’s struggles on the road and Philadelphia’s uncanny ability to bounce back after losses this year the Flyers at +115 looks like the bet tonight.
The total is set at 5.5 for tonight’s contest and we get conflicting trends to sift through. The over has been hot lately for the Bruins, 4-0 following a win, 7-1 in their last eight as the favorite and 5-1 in their last six overall. The under had been going strong for the Flyers, 8-2 in their last ten games but the over is 2-1 in their last three.
The over has hit six out of the last nine head to head meetings between these two teams. Looking at their shots on goal numbers it looks like both these teams will continue to put up strong offensive numbers, Boston’s games are averaging 66.8 combined shots on goal in their last five games while the Flyer’s are averaging 67.5 over their last eight.
Based off those shot numbers, the Bruins current streak of hitting the over and the Flyers looking like they’re about to start a streak of hitting the over, the over (-120) is the way to go tonight.
Player Props
- Keith Yandle Over 1.5 shots on goal -145
Yandle is back on the top power play unit and is averaging just under 2 shots on goal a game (1.93). Despite only getting 1 shot to the net in his last game he had hit 3 shots in goal in the four games prior to that. Quarterbacking the top power play unit has Yandle averaging nearly three minutes (2:55) of power play time a game, increasing his chances to get a couple pucks on net.
- Claude Giroux Over 2.5 shots on goal -105
The Captain is coming off an impressive 2 goal game against the Lightning, but more importantly he’s hit 4 shots on goal in three of his last four games and 3 shots on goal in four of his last five games. Giroux is averaging 3.2 shots on goal for the year, is second among Flyers forwards in average time on ice (18:14) and first in average power play time on ice(3:21), he’ll have plenty of opportunities to piling up the shots tonight.
Team Props
- Flyers over 2.5 goals -135
The Flyers are averaging 31.46 shots for a game on the year and have scored less than 3 goals just three times in eight home games. Philadelphia has scored at least 3 goals in four of their last five games against the Bruins and Boston is averaging 2.75 goals against in their last four games.
