DG Bets for Games on October 11, 2022

I’m gonna be honest with you guys. I have not had the smoothest start to the NHL betting season, but I promise I will get my shit together. The Global Series is behind us and we are ready to move on. Luckily, we have two games on tonight.

Here is a graphic for tonight’s card:

Graphic Analysis

A few things stand out from tonight’s games…

  1. The New York Rangers are solid defensively at home. They averaged 2.3 GA per game while at home last season. With Igor and Vasy in net, I’m hesitant to bet point props for any of these teams.
  2. The Rangers and Lightning can both shot the puck. I would not mind targeting either team for shot props tonight.
  3. The Los Angeles Kings average 36 shots per game at home last season, while the Knights allowed 30.6 on the road. Absolutely need to target Kings shot props tonight

Every bettor needs reasoning behind their picks, I believe this simple graphic, which encompasses all of last years data, helps do just that. We can pinpoint which types of bets might have a better success of hitting, just like I did above. Now let’s make some picks based off that information.

Bet #1 – Kempe o3.5 shots & Kucherov o2.5 shots (+253, DK)

Once I saw Kucherov sitting at o2.5 shots in DraftKings, I knew I had to parlay that with a player from the late game. Nikita Kucherov hit on o2.5 shots 68% of the time last season and hit on o3.5 shots 47% of the time. Anytime you see Kucherov at o2.5 you need to think about playing it.

Kempe is also a beast at shooting the puck. He hit on o2.5 shots 55% of the time and o3.5 shots 41% of the time. Against the Golden Knights he averaged 4.3 shots per game, hitting o3.5 in 3 of the 4 meetings last year (75%).

The juice on this parlay really makes it worth betting in my opinion. If the parlay is too much for you, I would consider o3.5 shots for Kempe at +125.

Bet #2 – Hedman and Arvidsson o2.5 shots Parlay (+160, Barstool)

This parlay is meant to play off my first bet. I very much like targeting the LA Kings tonight for shots. They averaged 36 shots per game at home last season, which was near the top of the league. The only teams that averaged more shots at home were the Avalanche, Panthers, Bruins, and funny enough, the Golden Knights.

Hedman hit on o2.5 shots 56% of the time last season, while Arvidsson hit 68% of the time. I am very bullish on Arvidsson for shots, but if you are unsure about Hedman, Stamkos is another solid pick. He hit o2.5 53% of the time and averaged slightly more shots per game than Hedman (3.0 vs 2.7).

The main reason I’m making this play is to hedge my first bet. If I win just one of these two parlay’s I will be plus money. It is always good to hedge when betting.

Honorable Mention #1 – Jack Eichel o3.5 shots (-110, DK)

The Los Angeles Kings are pretty solid defensively at home, allowing just 28 shots per game last year to away teams, but this is Jack Eichel were talking about. He hit on o3.5 shots 71% of the time last season. That is just absurd.

I’m a little pissed off the line changed from this morning from +110 on DK to now -110, but this is still worth mentioning. The only negative I see is that he only averaged 1 shot per game against the Kings last season. I wouldn’t read too much into that stat though.

TLDR – Betting Summary

  1. Parlay: Kempe o3.5 shots & Kucherov o2.5 shots (+253, DK) 1.5u
  2. Parlay: Hedman & Arvidsson o2.5 shots (+160, Barstool) 1.5u
