I think I want to try something a little bit different with these articles going forward. I will only be posting betting articles on Tuesdays and Thursdays, since the largest amount of games is played on those two days. Instead of listing out each of my bets, I will list out a bunch of picks that I like and the reasoning behind those picks.
Afterwards, I will summarize which of those picks I have placed bets on and then allow you all to make betting decisions for yourself. You can ride with my picks or fade me. All I hope, is that some of the information I give you within these articles will help you with your own betting decisions.
With that, let’s dive into today’s picks…
Pick #1 – Owen Tippett o2.5 shots (-112 on BS)
Owen Tippett currently has an 80% hit rate on the o2.5 line this season. He plays the injury riddled Columbus Blue Jackets tonight, who allow the 2nd most shots per game at 36.1 shots/game. He is on the 1st FWD line and the 1st PP line. I’m not sure why his line is this close to even money tonight, but I won’t ask questions. Hammering Tipper tonight.
Pick #2 – Sam Bennett o3.5 shots (+110 on DK)
Sam Bennett has hit o3.5 shots in 4 out of 5 of his recent games. He has a 53% hit rate on this line throughout the entire season and a 67% hit rate on this line at home. The Florida Panthers shot the puck more than any other team, especially at home (40.3 shots per game).
Pick #3 – Carter Verhaeghe o2.5 shots (-112 on BS)
Carter Verhaeghe has hit o2.5 shots in 5 out of 5 of his recent games and has a 60% hit rate throughout the entire season. Like Bennett, I like Verhaeghe because the Panthers are 1st in the NHL in shots per game and excel on home ice.
Pick #4 – Rasmus Dahlin o2.5 shots (-150 on BS)
Rasmus Dahlin has been on one of late. He has hit o2.5 shots in 8 straight games and has an 86% hit rate on the season overall. I think he is a must bet tonight playing the Vancouver Canucks, who allow 33 shots/game (12th most in the NHL). However, because his line is juiced on most books, you may want to throw him into a 2 or 3 leg parlay.
Pick #5 – Jason Roberston o2.5 shots (-167 on BS)
Here is another player that has been on one of late. Robertson has tailed 24 shots in his last four games, hitting his over in each of those. I don’t mind his o3.5 line on other sportsbooks, but for the purposes of this article, I want to point out that he has a reasonable -167 line on Barstool, for just o2.5 shots. He has a 73% hit rate on o2.5 shots and a 60% hit rate on o3.5 shots for the season.
Pick #6 – John Tavares o2.5 shots (-155 on DK)
I like Tavares tonight against the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have allowed 34.3 shots per game. That is good enough for 7th most shots per game in the NHL. John Tavares has a hit rate on o2.5 shots of 62.5%. Like some of these other juiced lines, you will probably want to pair this with another player, rather than betting it straight up.
Pick #7 – Frank Vatrano o2.5 shots (-140 on DK)
I really like Vatrano tonight, but his line is slightly juiced. Check out my betting summary for who I paired him with tonight. Frank Vatrano is perfect at home, hitting his shot prop in 6/6 games. He currently has a 73% hit rate on o2.5 shots for the season and is playing the Red Wings tonight who allow 32.7 shots per game.
Pick #8 – Dylan Larkin o2.5 shots (-167 on BS)
Somebody is going to hit agains the Ducks tonight. The Ducks allow the most shots per game in the entire league at 39.1 shots/game. I like Dylan Larkin’s chances tonight at hitting. He has a 60% hit rate on o2.5 shots and has hit in 4 of his last 6 games.
Betting Summary
- Tippett o2.5 Shots (-112) 1u
- Bennett o3.5 Shots (+110) 1u
- Verhaeghe/Vatrano Shots (+223) .5u to win 1u
- Dahlin/Robertson Shots (+167) .75u to win 1.25u
