OK Flyers fans, it’s time for another “Would You Rather Wednesday”!

We’re judging these players purely off of what they did during their time as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers. Judge them however you like. Be it total goals, points, fan favorite, how they played the game, how they treated media/fans. The way you choose to judge is up to you, but remember, it’s solely based off their time as Flyers.

Mike Knuble vs Scott Hartnell

Mike Knuble

Mike Knuble spent five seasons as a Philadelphia Flyer and racked up 114 goals from 2005 to 2009. Signed as a Free-Agent after the 04-05 lockout, Knuble signed as a 33 year old forward coming off two pretty good seasons with the Bruins.

In his first season with the Flyers, Knuble would set new career highs in goals (34, assists (31), and points (65).

Throughout his tenure as a Flyer, Knuble was a model of consistency as he would go on to average 28.5 goals-per-game, 27.75 assists-per-game, 57.25 points-per-game, and and stellar 12.5 power play goals-per-game.

He also had a knack for scoring big goals, as shown below against Washington in double overtime during the 2008 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

Knuble would eventually end his career as a Flyers after a stint with the Washington Capitals. He would play in just 28 games at the age of 40 and called it a career after the 2012-13 season.

Scott Hartnell

Over the course of Scott Hartnell’s seven year career as a member of the Philadelphia Flyers, Hartnell not only endeared himself as a fan favorite because of his personality and the ever famous, “Hartnell down”. Hartnell got it done on the ice as he would record 157 goals in 517 games as a Flyer.

When you think about Hartnell I assume multiple memories come to mind but maybe none like the time when he fought Craig Adams and impersonated Hulk Hogan during the same 2012 playoff series against the Penguins.

Hartnell would average 22.4 goals-per-game as a Flyer to go along with 46.6 points-per-game, 24.14 assists-per-game, and 8.14 power play goals-per-game. Honestly I expected those to be higher as Hartnell had some really good seasons with the orange and black.

His best season came in 2011-12 when he scored 37 goals and racked up a career high 67 points in route to his first and only All-Star game appearance. It’s also worth mentioning that as a member of the Flyers, Hartnell averaged 129 penalty minutes a season. While maybe not so much remembered for his physical nature, Hartnell would never shy away from a fight.
