Woke Up This Morning And Was Immediately Thankful For Joel Farabee

YOUNG BEEZER IN THE CUT howwwwww are ya?

Doing well, thanks for asking. All, have you ever had one of those morning’s where you just wake up and had to put some pen to paper? Or hand to keyboard, rather. (Yeah, I get it. I’m still not funny).

Well, I’ve had one of those mornings. It’s today. This morning. Yeah, I’m doing it. I’m doing it my way (Alexa, please play “My Way” by Frank Sinatra). Joel Francis Farabee, come on doooooowwwwwwwnnnn.

Disclaimer: I actually have no idea if his middle name is Francis, but let’s all agree it’s a hell of a name. Take a bow, all Francis’s out there.

Additional Disclaimer: It’s not his middle name. After an hour of research (5 minutes), I couldn’t find his real one so I’m just going to assume that he doesn’t have one. Crafty move by the Farabee parents.

Anyway, ah yes, there was a point to this article. An appreciation and stick tap salute to the one and only, Joel Farabee!

If there is anyone else out there named “Joel Farabee”, I sincerely apologize but this article is not for you.

Farabee, a 21-year old winger, is coming off of a breakout year in a COVID-19 shortened season in 2021 with the Flyers where he caressed, nestled, and tucked 20 beautiful goals into the twine and tacked on 18 assists for a grand total of 38 points in 55 games.

This was a big stepping stone in Farabee’s development as he came off of a rookie year in 2020 where he deposited only 8 goals and 13 assists in 52 games.

What we can gather from that is the young forward (and future Grammy Award-winning rapper) was able to avoid the dreaded “sophomore slump” and almost effectively doubled his point total from his rookie year.

With consistent first line minutes and extended playing time next to the newly-rewarded center in Sean Couturier, I am personally expecting Farabee to flirt with the 55-60 point range and effectively increasing his goal total to 25-30 for the upcoming 2021-2022 NHL Season.

Additionally, I’m hoping to see a guy like Farabee featured more on the PP1 with Giroux, Couturier, Ellis, and Konecny. This should directly correlate to a potential increase in production.

Is this wishful thinking? I don’t know, I’m not a doctor and most likely, neither are you.

What also can you expect from the 21-year old American pop-star, errrr I mean, superstar?

Well, with Keith Yandle entering the picture, I am GIDDY and crossing my fingers for the best sound-bites and mic’d up moments between Farabee, Yandle, and Hayes.

There’s no doubt in my mind that Joel Farabee could be a potentially consistent 30-35 goal scorer in this league that can put up 80 points in a season with consistent first line minutes. It’s not a matter of “IF”, it’s more-so a matter of “when”.

Can you imagine. Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. Flyers up 3-1 in the series versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. Game 5 is tied 3-3 in overtime. Joel Farabee and Claude Giroux have a 2 on 1, Farabee snipes the game winning goal.

Joel proceeds to middle finger a packed, sad, and disgruntled Penguins crowd and shouts “FARABEE RULES!” as he does eloquent and effortless laps around the ice.

Farabee will be coming off of his NHL Entry Level Contract at the conclusion of this upcoming season, making him an RFA. Locking him down as a key part of the future will be magnanimous for the Philadelphia Flyers organization.

UPDATE: Joel Farabee SIGNS FOR 6 YEARS/$30 MILLION ($5M AAV) EXSTENSION! PRAISE THE LORD AND CHUCK FLETCHER!
