What’s Happening with Ivan Provorov?

It’s happening in slow motion. I can feel it. It’s like Tiger Woods falling from grace. Is it possible (probable, even?) that the Philadelphia Flyers might trade Ivan Provorov this summer?

I mean, it’s not crazy to think that this might be a real possibility, right?

Wow, what a scenario this might be, eh? How did we get to this point? Where did we go wrong? Am I being crazy? Unreasonable? Or maybe…I know something…

I know nothing but it would be cool If I did.

On a more serious note, we have to consider the facts at hand, the state of the team, the rec….ALRIGHT, WHY THE HELL would the Flyers trade a 25 year old defenseman who eats 25+ minutes a night on the top pair?

These things are supposed to happen to the Sabres and Coyotes, not us.

It’s no secret that sweet Ivan has struggled this season. A little displaced, maybe? Some nights it looks like you can tell that his head is elsewhere.

From the periodic poor defensive coverage, to getting outworked on the boards, to the poor point work & fumbling of the puck on the power play, to the bad defensive zone turnovers….something ain’t right with #9. Uncharacteristic, to put it lightly.

What happened to the Ivan Provorov “future Norris Trophy Winner” that trained for 23.5 hours a day in the offseason with a pack of wolves chasing him through the sugar hills of his homeland of Mother Russia?

WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED?

Well, to be honest, nothing has happened yet. All we really have is speculation, but when there’s smoke, there’s fire, right?

Keep in mind I dont get paid to do this. I’m in it for the love of the game. As a fan just like you, I’m just confused, man.

With everything and the added speculation that this is even a remote possibility is just perplexing like all hell.

I mean have we heard any players or personnel on the Flyers come out and…you know…refute this? I’m not trying to start anything but like…it hasn’t happened.

For the sake of argument let’s assume he does get moved… for who and what for? Some teams come to mind but the most prominent idea at the forefront IN my mind is a certain disgruntled forward in Toronto….ding ding… William Nylander?

The good ole one for one hockey trade?

Minnesota? Kings? Ducks? They all have a flurry of young talent, that doesn’t mean they’re jumping to give them up but also a guy like Provorov doesn’t come around too often, either.

An educated assumption would be to keep an eye on Vegas and Toronto.

Are we even contenders, though? Are we rebuilding? Trade Giroux but sign Risto long-term, and then they trade…Provorov?

I don’t even know anymore.

Blow it up and trade all 18 skaters and fire every member of personnel into the sun and recreate the franchise.

This team gives me headaches.  Start a new Flyers.

Among the mass confusion and jumble of things that have happened this season this is by far the most deranged to me.

Rest up Flyers fans. We have headaches galore for the next few months ahead.
