What an emotional article this will be, eh? *sheds a tear*
Alright, well. Let’s get the first one out of the way now. (*cracks the first Thanksgiving beer*):
Wow. We may have found our goaltender. Finally!

Imagine your favorite team having a goalie not named Carter Hart.
Couldn’t be me.

I just simply cant believe it. I genuinely cannot believe that I would ever type an article like this. This is what it actually feels like. The Philadelphia Flyers have a goaltender that’s….good? Dare I say, CONSISTENT?! SCREAM IT LOUD FROM THE MOUNTAIN TOPS, BABY!
THE PHILADELPHIA FLYERS HAVE A FRANCHISE GOALTENDER, AGAIN!
When’s the last time you can remember that your Philadelphia Flyers Gentleman’s Ice Hockey Club had a steady goaltender between the pipes? Speaking personally, being born in 1997…I have NEVER seen a GOOD and RELIABLE Flyers goaltender in my lifetime.
That is until now. Say it with me: Bernie Parent, Pelle Lindbergh, Ron Hextall, Sergei Bobrov-ergh…never mind, and CAHTAH HAHT. CARTER HART.

Aside from what a god awful year 2020 has been, it sure as hell did one thing for people who are fans of the Orange & Black. It solidified our peace of mind of actually having ~our guy~. Us? Can you believe it? We have A GUY, in the net AGAIN!
To believe that Carter is only 22 years old just bamboozles the hell out of me. To believe that I’m older than him is even more shocking, albeit, a little depressing, but it’s fine, everything’s fine, I’m fine.
Turned 23 last week.
Joel Farabee is 20.
Egor Zamula is 20.
Morgan Frost is 21.
Carter Hart is 22.
Philippe Myers is 23.
Travis Konecny is 23.
Ivan Provorov is 23.The six pack of beers after my men's league game is telling me that I should be out there playing w/ these guys.

Oh man, Flyers fans. I was just re-watching highlights from the 2020 playoffs and man, was Carter Hart locked in. Despite the squad playing some abysmal defense at the time, Carter was able to keep us in a lot of games. How about going head to head versus his idol, Carey Price (aka the best goaltender in the NHL in the past decade). ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
Carter Hart basically said “Fuck Carey Price, i can get a shutout too.”
The funny thing? I’m 10 months older than Carter Hart and I’m currently sipping on a white claw and idolizing this man.

….I mean….just look at this:

HELL YEAH, I LIKE THAT! HELL, I LOOOOVE THAT.
Sweet Jesus, this kid is just a hard-nosed, hardworking honey badger. It makes you want to shake God’s hand and thank him for the goaltending prodigy that we have been bequeathed. Only the Lord and Bernie have saved more than Carter Hart’s glove hand. (Don’t worry, in 10 years, this will catch on.)
Now, for the “analytical” and “statistics” folks, eat up these bad boys, what accolades has this beloved man accomplished so far?
-Youngest goaltender in Flyers history to win his NHL Debut (youngest goaltender since Carey Price to accomplish this)
-First goaltender since Steve Mason (Columbus) to win 4 straight games before the age of 21
-Youngest goaltender in Flyers history to record a shutout (21 years old)
-Youngest goaltender in Flyers history to win a playoff game
-Youngest goaltender in Flyers history to record a playoff shutout
-Second youngest goaltender in NHL history to record back-to-back shutouts in the playoffs
IS THAT EVEN GOOD?!?!
CARTER HART!?!

PARENT. LINDBERGH. HEXTALL. BRYZ (lol, sorry). HART.
Let’s take a deeper dive into the statistics:
Last year, Hart was 24-13-3 with 1 shutout (probably would have been more if Sanheim didn’t trip over the blue line once a game) with a 2.42 GAA and a .914 save percentage. How about in the playoffs? Hart went 9-5 with two shutouts, a .926 save percentage and a 2.23 GAA. Wow, imagine those numbers if Niskanen didn’t get the yips in the playoffs.

We sure as hell have a good one, folks. Definitely a franchise player that we should all be thankful for. With one of the youngest and talented cores in the National Hockey League, we all have a lot to look forward to. Carter is the undisputed best athlete under 25 years old in Philadelphia and to me, it’s not even close. This guy is it.
Have a Happy Thanksgiving, all. God Bless the Flyers and God Bless Carter Hart.
