Tank Update

Saturday night proved to be a great night for the youth of the Philadelphia Flyers, not so much for their tank efforts.

Flyers cough up lead and lose in OT – 25-32-12, 62 points

Noah Cates, Morgan Frost, Owen Tippett, Tyson Foerster, and…Brendan Lemieux all recorded two points each against the Hurricanes Saturday night.

Drafted 23rd overall in 2020, Foerster already has the most lethal shot in the entire Flyers organization. His wicked shot was on display as he whipped his first NHL goal past Hurricanes goalie, Frederick Anderson.

With three points in his first five games, Foerster certainly seems to be adapting to life in the NHL. He would also pick up an assist on the power-play as Noah Cates banged home his 11th goal of the season.

Even with all the positives Saturday night, it was not enough to overcome the Hurricanes as Martin Necas would tie the game with 0.3 seconds remaining and Sebastian Aho would finish off his hat-trick with a dazzling move around Flyers defenseman, Tony DeAngelo, and rip home the game-winning-goal in overtime.

Montreal shocked by Lightning

Tampa Bay struck for goal three times in the third period to topple Montreal 5-3 Saturday night.

Last year’s trade deadline acquisition, Branden Hagel, scored goals 25, 26, and 27 for his first career hat-trick.

Montreal falls to 27-37-6 and remains at 60 points, 2 below the Flyers for 5th lowest points in the NHL.

Coyotes win fourth straight, jump Blackhawks late

The Chicago Blackhawks, currently third worst in the NHL, gave away a third period lead Saturday night as the Arizona Coyotes ripped off three straight goals to come away with their fourth straight win. The Coyotes are now three points clear of the Flyers in the standings, with 63.

Isles take care of Sharks

The San Jose Sharks gave Flyer fans a glimmer of hope as they opened the scoring against the Islanders Saturday night. However Kevin Lebanc’s first period goal would be all that would pass Ilya Sorokin. The Isles would score four straight and ultimately win 4-1 to keep San Jose at 52 points and remain second to last.

After all games came to an end, the final seven in the standings looks as follows:

26. Arizona 65
27. Flyers 62
28. Montreal 60
29. Anaheim 56
30. Chicago 54
31. San Jose 52
32. Columbus 49
