NHL Daily Recap for Friday January 28, 2022.


Jake Guentzel scored twice (22,23) for Pittsburgh but it was not enough as Detroit would go on to win 3-2 via shootout.

Kevin Fiala began the comeback for Minnesota with his 12th goal of the season and assisted on the GWG as the Wild capped off a 3-2 comeback victory over the Rangers with 3 unanswered goals.

Gabriel Landeskog finished with 2 goals (17,18) and an assist while Nazem Kadri contributed with 2 points, including an assist to rookie Alex Newhook who scored his 10th of the season as Colorado finished off Chicago 6-4.

David Pastrnak assisted on each of Boston’s goals to propel the Bruins to a 2-1 victory over the Coyotes.

Nicklas Backstrom scored a goal (3) and added 2 assists as the Capitals shot down the Stars 5-0 while Vitek Vanecek backstopped Washington to his 2nd shutout of the season.
