Marner Propels Leafs in OT


NHL Recap for Monday February 7, 2022.


 

Nico Hischier opened the scoring Monday night for the Devils with his 9th goal of the season. Jesper Bratt picked up his 28th assist on the season to add to his team leading point total (42).

Ottawa would go on to score 4 unanswered goals en route to a 4-1 victory with goals from Nick Paul (9), Nick Holden (3), Adam Gaudette (4), and Connor Brown (6).

Matt Murray stopped 32 of 33 shots while picking up his 5th win in his last 7 starts (5-0-2).

Ottawa improves to 15-22-4 with the win while New Jersey sinks to 15-26-5 and remains last in the Metropolitan division.

Austin Matthews and Mitch Marner each scored twice to propel the Leafs to a 4-3 OT win over Carolina Monday night in Toronto.

Nino Neiderreiter opened the scoring with his 14th of the season for Carolina to give the Canes’ a 1-0 lead heading into the 2nd frame.

Matthews (30,31) would score twice in the 2nd to put the Leafs up a goal heading into the 3rd. Matthews trails only Chris Kreider and Leon Draitsaitl in goals on the season.

Carolina would go up 3-2 in the 3rd but Marner would tie the game late and ultimately pot the game winner in OT, his 15th and 16th goals on the year to cap off a 3 point night.
