Representing Canada and the Philadelphia Flyers in the IIHF World Tournament in Riga, Latvia and Tampere, Finland, Scott Laughton did us proud on Friday.
Canada opened the scoring just 52 seconds into the game as Lawson Crouse of the Arizona Coyotes scored the opening goal of the tournament for his team.
Flyers assistant captain, Scott Laughton, would follow up with a goal of his own just over four minutes later to double Canada’s lead.

Former Florida Panther and current Calgary Flames defenseman, MacKenzie Weegar was the player of the game however as he recorded three points. A goal and two assists. Weegar assisted on Laughton’s and Joe Veleno’s goals.
Montréal Canadiens net minder, Samuel Montembault, registered the shutout as he stopped all 23 Latvian shots sent his way.
Canada next play on Sunday, May 14 as they take on Slovenia.
Laughton’s goal combined with Gauthier’s, who scored the opening goal for USA, makes Ronnie Attard the only Flyers player without a goal during tournament play. Although Attard did pot one during USA’s friendly versus Germany.
