Gambler’s Guide to Flyers vs Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs @ Philadelphia Flyers

Tonight our Philadelphia Flyers host the Toronto Maple Leafs and in addition to hoping for a win for the good guys, there’s potential for some money to be made. I’ll break down my favorite bets for tonight’s game right here in the Gambler’s Guide. All odds are from DraftKings SportsBook.

Money line and Total

This game has a 6 goal total and the Leafs are the favorites at -130, while the Flyers are +110 showing that the odds makers believe this to be a tight contest. Toronto has been a streaky team having already had a five game winning streak and a four game losing streak this year, also factor in that this is their fifth game in eight nights and the beginning of a three games in four nights set. The Leafs have also struggled on the road this season, just 1-3-0 and are 0-5 in their last five games against teams with a winning record.

The Flyers are well rested having played the fewest games of any team on the season and coming off a three day break, Philadelphia has also shown an ability to hang with and beat the most talented teams in the league thus far with wins against Boston (6-3), Edmonton (5-3) and Washington (2-1) and a tight loss to Florida (4-2). Philadelphia is 6-2 in their last eight games when playing on 3+ days rest.

Given the Leafs struggles on the road and the Flyers solid home record (3-1-1), I like the Flyers at +110 tonight. The Under looks like the bet tonight, the under is 6-1 in Toronto’s last seven road games and the under is 5-0 in the Flyers last five games overall.

Player Props

  • Cam Atkinson over 2.5 shots on goal +105

Atkinson is second on the team in shots on goal, is averaging 3.1 per game for the year and he’s been moved up to the top power play unit. The Maple Leafs are 10th in the NHL in shots against and are top ten in scoring chances against (8th).

  • Joel Farabee over .5 assists +295

This one pairs nicely with the Atkinson prop, playing with a guy like Atkinson who is going to be firing the puck at the net frequently and against a team that gives up plenty of shots on goal and scoring chances, it’s reasonable to believe that Atkinson can get one to the back of the net and Farabee is likely to be in on the play.

Game Props

  • Flyers winning margin, win by 2 +600

Already taking the Flyers to win outright tonight, the 2 goal margin seems like the likeliest outcome. Four of the Flyers six wins have been by 2 or more goals and based off the money lines the oddsmakers expect this to be a close game.
