Philadelphia Flyers vs Ottawa Senators
Following an emotional night on Claude Giroux’s 1000th game in front of a packed Philadelphia crowd, a game in which the Flyers rallied to give the captain a victory on his night, the orange and black head north of the border to take on the Senators. Ottawa has dropped three straight at home coming into this contest. All odds per Pointsbet Sportsbook.
Game Lines
The Flyers (+120) enter tonight’s contest once again as the underdogs and there’s some concern of a letdown after the amazing game last night. The trends don’t say anything positive for Philadelphia, they’re 19-39 in their last fifty-eight as road underdogs, 8-24 in their last thirty-two following a win and 14-38 in their last fifty-two overall.
The Senators (-140) are the favorites tonight but there’s not much in their recent trends that tells any kind of positive story. Ottawa is 2-5 in their last seven on one days rest, 1-4 in their last five games as home favorites and 2-8 in their last ten overall. The Senators are also playing their fourth game in six nights making fatigue a factor.
The Flyers are probably going to be in their feelings as they come to grips with the fact they just played their last game with Giroux, the Senators are going to be tired due to the amount of recent games they’ve played. This one is going to come down to mental toughness and we’ve seen time and time again the orange and black wilt under pressure. Senators take it tonight.
The total sits at 6 (O -121, U +100) and both of these teams have seen some scoring in recent games. The Flyers have had their games feature 7+ goals in five of their last seven while the Senators’ games have hit 7 or more goals in four of six. The over is 5-0 in Philadelphia’s last five against the Atlantic Division, 4-0 in their last four versus teams with losing records and 5-1 in their last six on the road. Ottawa has seen the over go 5-1 in their last six as favorites and 4-1 in their last five against teams with a winning percentage below .400. Take the over tonight.
Prop Bets
First Period Total Goals Band 2-3 Goals (+105)
With this game projecting to be high scoring it’s likely the goals start coming early. Martin Jones is probable to get the start for the Flyers, he’s allowed 3+ goals eleven times in his last fourteen starts, while likely Sens starter, Anton Forsberg, has allowed 3+ in three straight.
Anytime Goal Scorer Joel Farabee (+190)
With Claude Giroux staying back in Philadelphia for this game that opens up more playing time and a power play spot, expect that to be filled by Farabee. He’ll get an extended look on the top line and top power play unit.
Team to Score in Every Period, Senators (+200)
We’ve already touched on the high scoring nature of this game and Martin Jones’ Swiss cheese goaltending. The Flyers defense has been atrocious all season and Ottawa will be putting consistent pressure on them all night.
