Philadelphia Flyers vs Boston Bruins
It’s been five days since we last saw the boys in orange and black when they blew a 2-0 lead and wasted a phenomenal performance by Martin Jones as they dropped a game to the Sharks in overtime. Tonight they head to Boston to celebrate Tuukka Rask’s return to the NHL. The Gambler’s Guide went 3 for 5 against San Jose. All odds from Draftkings Sportsbook.
Money Line and Total
Once again the Flyers (+220) enter a game as the underdogs and there’s very little good news in the trends for Philadelphia. The Flyers are 1-4 in their last five road games, 2-9 in their last eleven games as a road underdog and 1-8 in their last nine versus the Atlantic Division. If there is one glimmer of hope for Philadelphia it’s that they’ve won two of the last three meetings with Boston and three of the last five.
Boston (-260) is a heavy favorite in tonight’s contest and it’s not hard to see why, winners of three straight and six of their last seven. They’re not just winning games they’re dominating opponents, with four victories by 3+ goals in their last six games. The Bruins are also 21-8 in their last twenty-nine games as home favorites and 50-21 in their last seventy-one against teams with a sub .400 winning percentage.
This game obviously sets up for a Bruins victory but there are a few things suggesting that the Flyers can keep it close. In addition to some recent defeats at the hands of Philadelphia, Boston is also playing their third game in four nights and their fourth game in six nights so fatigue could play a factor tonight. Philly hangs around in this one tonight, Flyers +1.5 (-105) looks good.
The total is set at 6 (O -105, U -115) for tonight’s game and the over again looks like where the smart money is. The over is 7-3 in the last ten head to head meetings between these two, 5-1-1 in Boston’s last seven overall and 5-1 in their last six against the Metro Division. The over is also 8-3 in the Flyers last eleven games on one day’s rest. Take the over tonight.
Player Props
- Claude Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100) and Travis Konecny Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+115)
Both Giroux and Konecny have shot totals averaging higher than this mark for the year, G 2.62/game and Konecny 2.78/game. Giroux has cleared 2.5 shots on goal in three of his last five games while Konecny has done it in four of his last six.
Team Props
- Flyers Over 2.5 Total Team Goals (+130)
For a team that seems to be perpetually stuck in neutral on offense this number appears nearly impossible to achieve. But the Flyers have hit 3+ goals in four of their last nine games and they’ve scored 3 or more goals against the Bruins in six of the last ten head to head meetings.
The Five for Tonight
- Flyers +1.5 (-105)
- Over 6 (-105)
- Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)
- Konecny Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+115)
- Flyers Over 2.5 Total Goals (+130)
