Philadelphia Flyers @ Vegas Golden Knights
The Flyers continue to infuriate their fan base with terrible on ice performances and a disinterested attitude in all things related to professional hockey. Maybe they can get lucky tonight in Vegas but it’s looking unlikely. Due to the Flyers inability to even pretend like they know how to score goals, the Gambler’s Guide was a putrid 1 out 5 in the Devils’ game after a pristine 5 for 5 performance in the Avs game. All odds from Draftkings Sportsbook.
Money Line and Total
For what is the the twentieth time out of twenty four games the Flyers (+200) will be the underdogs tonight. Most of the signs point to a continuation of Philadelphia’s losing streak, the Flyers are 3-13 in their last sixteen overall, 0-6 in their last six road games and 0-5 in their last five on one day of rest. On the bright side they are 4-1 in their last five against the Pacific Division, I guess that counts for something.
Vegas (-250) is a healthy favorite tonight and the trends point to success for the Knights today. Vegas is 14-6 in their last twenty overall, 46-17 in their last sixty-three against teams with a winning percentage under .400, 51-21 in their last seventy-two home games and 47-19 in their last sixty-six games as a home favorite.
Everything points to a Vegas blowout victory and the Flyers have shown no reason to hope they can turn this around, Vegas outright seems like a forgone conclusion but even the Knights -1.5 (-105) seems likely tonight.
The total is set at 6 (O -120, U +100) for tonight’s contest and while the Flyers seem unable to find the net even if they asked Alexa, the Knights hit the over as often as politicians lie. The over is 5-0 in Vegas’ last five games against a team with a winning percentage under .400, 9-3 in their last twelve as a favorite and 4-1-1 in their last five versus the Eastern Conference. The over is also 4-1 in the Flyers last five games against teams with a winning record, mostly because their opponents just do it all themselves. Take the over tonight.
Team Props
- Vegas Over 3.5 Goals (-140)
The Flyers defensive game plan these days is don’t play defense, they have allowed 4 or more goals in five of their last six and eight of their last ten games and five of those instances they allowed 5+ goals. On the other side Vegas has scored 5 or more goals in five of their last seven games, and those games were against actual professional hockey teams, they should easily put up 4 goals against this AHL Plus team.
Player Props
- Claude Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+110)
G is averaging 2.83 shots on goal for the year and he plays on the top line and top power play unit, averaging a team leading 3:14 of power play time a night and 18:13 overall. Also this team doesn’t give us very much to watch so at least you can root for Giroux to shoot when this game is 6-1.
