Gambler’s Guide: Philadelphia Flyers @ Florida Panthers

Philadelphia Flyers @ Florida Panthers

After a brutal showing last night against the Lightning our Philadelphia Flyers take on the Florida Panthers tonight hoping to stop the bleeding and end this three game losing streak. The Gambler’s Guide is trying to reverse it’s own trend having gone 2 for 5 in back to back games, more profitable nights are on the horizon. All odds from Draftkings Sportsbook.

Money Line and Total

Once again the Flyers will be the underdog (+190) making it ten straight games as the underdogs for the orange and black. Things look bleak tonight for the Flyers, they’re 0-5 in their last five games against the Atlantic Division, 1-8 in their last nine games in the second half of a back to back, 1-5 in their last six contests against teams with winning records and 1-5 in their last five meetings against the Panthers in Florida.  If there is any good news for Philadelphia it’s that the last two times they were shutout, they won the following game.

The Panthers enter tonight as the favorite (-220), this will be the ninth time in their last ten games that they’re the favorite. More good news for Florida, they’re 24-4 in their last twenty eight home games, 10-2 in their last twelve games after a win and the favorite is 8-2 in the last ten meetings between these teams. Sometimes there’s no need to over think things, the Panthers money line is the bet tonight.

With the total set at 6 (O -115, U -105) for tonight’s game it makes for an interesting bet. The under is still red hot in Flyers games, 6-1 in their last seven away games, 14-3 in their last seventeen road games as an underdog and 9-3 in their last twelve overall. For the Panthers it’s a bit of a mixed bag, recent trends show the over looking good, 4-1 in their last five games as a home favorite and 6-2 overall in their last eight games as a favorite. But historically between these two teams the under is 33-16-2.

It should be noted the Flyers have scored more than 2 goals just twice in their last twelve games while the Panthers have scored 4+ goals in every home game this season, including seven home games with 5 or more goals. This decision really comes down to how much faith to have in the Flyers being able to put up any kind of fight, if they can provide just the bare minimum of offense, the over seems attainable and that’s why the over is the bet tonight.

Player Props

  • Aaron Ekblad Over 2.5 shots on goal -125/Over 0.5 power play points +175

The Panthers top defenseman is averaging 3 shots on goal for the year and as reached at least 3 shots on goal in four of his last five games. The Flyers are giving up 34.17 shots against per game in addition to 3.29 power plays against a game while Ekblad leads his team with 3:37 minutes of average power play time on ice.

Game Props

  • Both teams to score 2+ goals, Yes -210

Best off of how the Panthers have been playing at home this season they’re a virtual lock to hit this, so similar to the total for this game it comes down to the Flyers holding up their end of the bargain. The Flyers are 2-0 after being shut out this season and scored at least 2 goals in both of those games, while they might not get the win tonight, they should be able to muster some offensive against a team allowing 7.66 high danger chances a game.

The Five for Tonight

  1. Florida Money line (-220)
  2. Over 6 (-115)
  3. Aaron Ekblad Over 2.5 shots on goal (-125)
  4. Aaron Ekblad Over 0.5 power play points (+175)
  5. Both teams to score 2+ goals Yes (-210)
