Gambler’s Guide: Nashville Predators at Philadelphia Flyers

Nashville Predators vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers had a few days off in preparation for Claude Giroux’s 1000th game tonight so they should be well rested and eager to give the captain one last big moment in the orange and black. Nashville comes in having won five of their last six games and this is their 4th game in 6 nights. All odds per Barstool Sportsbook.

Game Lines

Philadelphia (+140) may enter tonight’s contest as the underdog but this team is going to be focused on getting a win for the current longest tenured athlete in Philadelphia and after the way the organization built up the hype for this game, expect the Wells Fargo Center to have a playoff like atmosphere. In situations like this, throw out the trends, recent play, and head to head performances, this team will play with more emotion than we’ve seen all year.

The Predators (-175) enter tonight’s game as the favorites and they have plenty to play for as they push for the playoffs. Nashville is 5-1 in their last 6 games overall, 40-14 in their last 54 versus teams with losing records and 16-6 in their last 22 following a win. In should be noted that they’re 1-4 in their last 5 matchups with the Metro Division.

This game is going to hinge on the first period, the crowd is going to be rocking and the energy is going to be electric. If the Flyers get the first goal they’ll be able to ride the emotion all the way to a victory. On the flip side if Nashville scores early it will be a gut punch to a fan base and team that has folded too easily too often this year. Picking the Flyers to win isn’t for the faint of heart, but the boys on Broad St. win one for the captain tonight. Flyers outright.

The total for this one sits at 6 (O -120, U +100) and the trends are split tonight. For Philadelphia the under is 5-2 in their last 7 versus a team with a winning record, 4-1 in their last 5 as a home underdog and 5-2 in their last 7 overall as underdogs. The Predators have seen the over go 5-1 in their last 6 against teams with losing records, 19-7 in their last 26 road games and 27-11-1 in their last 39 as a road favorite. Despite the Flyers not hitting the over very often recently, they have seen their games hit 7+ goals in 4 of their last 6, let’s go with the over tonight.

Prop Bets

  • Claude Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)

Giroux is averaging 2.71 shots on goal per game for the year and is coming off a game where he fired 7 shots on net. This going to be an emotional night for the captain and possibly his last game in Philadelphia expect him to put on a show and be all over the place in this one.

  • Claude Giroux to Score, Yes (+195)

Giroux just scored his 18th of the season last game against the Habs and 12 of his 18 goals this year have come playing in front of the Wells Fargo crowd, he’ll stay hot tonight and find a way to put one in the back of the net.

  • Claude Giroux to Score at least 2 Points (+310)

You might’ve noticed a theme with the bets tonight, this might be nostalgia or just wishful thinking but Claude Giroux delivering a vintage performance one last time before he heads out of town just feels right. Tonight will be remembered like the Stadium Series overtime winner or “The Shift” as a classic Giroux performance.

The Five for Tonight

  2. Over 6 (-120)
  3. Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)
