Gambler’s Guide: Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers

Montreal Canadiens vs Philadelphia Flyers

After dropping 2 straight on the road the Flyers return home to the Wells Fargo Center to host one of the few teams below them in the standings in the Montreal Canadiens. Montreal lost last night in a shootout to the Kraken and head to Philadelphia on a 2 game losing streak. All odds per Betway Sportsbook.

Game Lines

In what feels like the first time in an eternity, the Flyers (-140) enter tonight’s game as the favorites. Returning to Broad St. should be a good sign for Philadelphia as they have 5 wins in 2022 and all of them have come at home. The head to head trends in this series bode well for the Flyers too, as the favorite is 18-8 in their last 26 meetings and the home team is 5-1 in the last 6.

In addition Philadelphia has won 3 of their last 5 home games.

Montreal (+115) is one of the few teams to come into a contest with the Flyers and be listed as the underdog. There is still plenty of talent on this team as they defeated the Calgary Flames just a few days ago,  5-4 in overtime. That being said, the trends do not look good for the Habs, they’re 19-44 in their last 63 road games, 6-14 in their last 20 on zero days rest, and 5-16 in their last 21 against the Metro.

Neither of these teams have proven to be able to sustain success over the course of this season and they are both headed to an early summer. With Carter Hart between the pipes for the Flyers and the game being in Philadelphia those two factors tip the scales in favor of the home team. Flyers outright tonight.

Tonight’s total is set at 6 (O -105, U -115) and the over for both teams has been good recently. The Flyers have seen the over go 23-4-1 in their last 28 as favorites, 4-0 in their last 4 versus the Atlantic Division and 14-5-1 in their last 20 against teams with winning percentages below .400.

For Montreal the over 5-0 in their last 5 overall, 4-0 in their last 4 as road underdogs and 4-0 in their last four on zero days rest. Take the over tonight.

Prop Bets

  • Both Teams to Score 1st Period (+165)

Each team has been positively atrocious defensively this season, the Flyers are averaging 3.41 goals against and the Habs are averaging 3.79. They’re also both in the top ten in scoring chances against, MTL 5th 23.34/game PHI 8th 22.7/game, and high danger chances against, MTL 1st 7.56/game PHI 8th 7.08/game. Expect the goals to come early and often in this one.

  • Flyers Winning Margin 1 Goal (+235)

Going back to December 18th the Flyers have won just 1 game by multiple goals, this is not a team that’s going to blow anyone out. They’ve been playing great at home and securing victories here but they won’t be making any kind of statement game today.

  • Money Line Winner Excluding OT Flyers (+110)

The Flyers are going to take this one outright but they won’t need any extra time to do it.

The Flyers finish off Montreal in regulation today.

The Five for Tonight

  1. Flyers (-140)
  2. Over 6 (-105)
  3. Both Teams Score 1st Period (+165)
  4. Flyers Winning Margin 1 Goal (+235)
  5. Moneyline Winner Excl OT Flyers (+110)
