Gambler’s Guide: Minnesota Wild vs Philadelphia Flyers

Minnesota Wild vs Philadelphia Flyers

After giving us a slight reprieve from all the losing streaks they’ve been on this year the Flyers got right back to their losing ways dropping the game against the Oilers 3-0. Minnesota is in the middle of their own four game losing streak as they head to Philly for a quick two game road trip. The Gambler’s Guide went a perfect 5 for 5 against Edmonton, we’ll try to keep it going tonight. All odds per Betway Sportsbook.

Game Lines

Philadelphia (+160) finds themselves in familiar territory as the underdogs once again. The trends, as always, don’t look good. The Flyers are 8-24 in their last 32 games as home underdogs, 5-16 in their last 21 home games overall and 6-22 in their last 28 versus teams with a winning percentage over .600. Good news for Philadelphia though, the underdogs are 8-2 in the last 10 head to head matchups against Minnesota and the Flyers are 8-3 against the Wild in the last 11 contests on Broad St.

The Wild (-200) are trying to turn things around and remain competitive in the Central Division. Minnesota is 10-1 in their last 11 matchups with the Metro Division, 49-18 in their last 67 games as favorites and 7-3 in their last 10 versus teams with losing records. However they are 3-7 in their last 10 matchups with Philadelphia.

This game presents a unique challenge, when looking at the season as a whole it’s clear that Minnesota has been and is a superior team to the Flyers. But factoring in recent play, the Wild on a four game losing streak, and historical matchup trends, Minnesota’s struggles in Philadelphia, it evens the scales a bit. With no clear direction from the trends this is a good spot to hedge our bets, Flyers +1.5 (-150) is the bet.

The total is set at 6 (O -115, U -105) for tonight’s contest and this is another line that the trends do little to help us. For the Wild the over is red hot, 4-1 in their last 5 road games, 6-2 in their last 8 overall and 36-16-1 against teams with losing records. On the Philadelphia side the under has been the better bet recently, going 6-1 in their last 7 versus the Western Conference and 5-2 in their last 7 on one days rest. But the Flyers haven’t score more than 2 goals in three straight and Minnesota has reached 3+ goals just once in their last three, we’ll take the under today.

Prop Bets

  • Cam Atkinson Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-130)

Atkinson is averaging 3.03 shots on goal per game for the season and he’s coming off a 5 shot game against the Oilers. Only 10 out of 53 games has Cam finished with less than 2 shots on goal, once again he should find himself within striking distance of covering this line.

  • Carter Hart Over 28.5 Saves (-105)

The Flyers are currently averaging 33.6 shots against per game while Minnesota is averaging 32.35 shots for a game. Those numbers say that Hart should easily see 30+ shots giving him the chance to allow 2+ goals and still hit this save line.

  • Both Teams to Score 2+ Goals, No (+145)

The Wild haven’t seen both teams score 2 or more goals in two of their last three games, while the Flyers haven’t seen both teams hit 2+ goals in any of their last three games.

The Five for Tonight

  1. Flyers +1.5 (-150)
  2. Under (-105)
  3. Atkinson Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-130)
  4. Hart Over 28.5 Saves (-105)
  5. Both Teams to Score 2+ Goals, No (+145)
