Edmonton Oilers vs Philadelphia Flyers

The Flyers stopped the bleeding and stunned the Capitals with a 2-1 victory on Saturday. Now they welcome in the Oilers, a team that’s dropped three of their last four games, but also have two of the most talented players in the world on their roster. All odds per Draftkings Sportsbook.

Game Lines

In a surprise to no one the Flyers (+135) find themselves as the underdogs for another matchup. While Philadelphia did end their most recent losing streak they’ve still only won three games in 2022 and the trends don’t look good for them today. The Flyers are 2-6 in their last 8 against the Western Conference, just 7-22 in their last 29 following a win and 1-4 in their last 5 versus the Pacific Division. Some good news though, the home team is 13-4 in the last 17 meetings between these two and Edmonton has won just once in their last seven trips to Philadelphia.

The Oilers (-155) dropped their last game 2-1 to the Hurricanes and look to regroup and keep pace in the wild card race. Edmonton is 4-0 the last four times they were favorited, 5-1 in their last 6 games as a road favorite and 4-0 in their last 4 contests against teams with losing records. Head to head the favorite is 6-2 in the most recent eight games in this series.

Philadelphia putting forth two consecutive good games and managing to win back to back games for the first time this year would be nice but they just don’t have the speed or talent to keep up with the Oilers highly skilled forward group. The Flyers might be able to keep it close for a bit but expect Edmonton’s talent to eventually overcome them and secure the win. Oilers outright.

Today’s game has a 6.5 (O +100, U -120) point total and both teams have struggled to hit the over in recent games. The under is 5-1 in Edmonton’s last 6 as a favorite and in their last 6 versus teams with losing records. The under is also 5-1 in the Flyers last 6 against the Western Conference, 4-1 following the last five Flyers victories and 7-3 in Philadelphia’s last 10 versus the Pacific Division. Take the under tonight.

Prop Bets

  • Claude Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)

The Captain is averaging 2.67 shots on goal per game this season and has 3+ shots in 4 of his last 6 games. Giroux has been a model of consistency this year, recording less than 2 shots just 11 times out of 49 games played, with the Oilers averaging 31.71 shots against per game expect him to get his fair share of looks.

  • Flyers Under 2.5 Total Goals (+100)

Edmonton has held their opponents to 2 or less goals in 6 of their last 10 games and the Flyers have scored 2 or fewer goals in back to back games. There’s a chance the Flyers find their offensive game tonight but for a team that has had multiple 5 game streaks of 2 or less goals, that seems unlikely.

  • Leon Draisaitl Anytime Goal Scorer (-130)

Draisaitl has 36 goals in 56 games on the season and he currently has just 1 goal in his last 5 games. Just one other time this season has he had a stretch of six games with only one score. Expect Draisaitl to find the back of the net in this one.

The Five for Tonight

  1. Oilers (-155)
  2. Under 6.5 (-120)
  3. Giroux Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+100)
  4. Flyers Under 2.5 Total Goals (+100)
  5. Draisaitl Anytime Goal Scorer (-130)
