Dallas Stars vs Philadelphia Flyers

Tonight is a night for history as Keith Yandle will tie Doug Jarvis for most consecutive games played at 964 and the Flyers attempt to tie the franchise record for longest losing streak at twelve games. Setting both of those streaks aside there is still money to be made tonight.

Money Line and Total

This might come as a surprise but the Flyers (+145) are the underdogs for tonight’s contest and as is the case with most eleven game losing streaks, things don’t look good for the orange and black tonight. The Flyers are 0-5 in their last five home games, 3-13 in their last sixteen on one day rest and 5-22 in their last twenty-seven overall.

Dallas (-165) might be the favorites tonight but considering their opponent it’s really not that impressive. The trends tell a positive story for the Stars, they’re 4-0 in their last four versus the Metro division, 5-1 in their last six as the favorites and 4-1 in their last five against teams with losing records. The favorite is also 17-5 in the last twenty-two head to head meetings between these two teams, but if there’s any hope for the Flyers it’s that the home team is 8-1 in the last nine matchups between these franchises.

Philadelphia has shown absolutely no reason for anyone to believe they will win another game this season, while the Stars aren’t exactly taking the league by storm they do at least appear to be playing competent hockey. Dallas is coming off of back to back wins, including coming back from 2-0, 3-1 and 4-3 deficits to beat the Sabres four days ago, those same Sabres that just beat up the Flyers 6-3. Take the Stars tonight.

With a 5.5 (O -115, U -105) total tonight the over looks good. The over is 6-0 in the Stars last six games as favorites, 5-0 in their last five versus a team with a losing record and 5-1 in their last six overall.  On the Philadelphia side the over is 6-1-1 in their last eight against the Central division, 6-2 in their last eight as home underdogs and 9-3 in their last twelve home games overall. It’s the over again tonight.

Player Props

  • Carter Hart Over 28.5 Saves (-120)

The Stars are currently averaging 30.68 shots on goal per game this season and an insane 43.33 shots on goal over their last three games. Meanwhile the Flyers are averaging 34.29 shots against a game, there is a real possibility that Hart could allow 3+ goals and still hit the over on his saves prop.

Game Props

  • Both Teams to Score 2+ Goals, Yes (-165)

Flyers games have seen both teams reach this mark in six of their last eight and eleven of their last fourteen. Dallas has also seen both teams hit 2+ goals in eight of their last eleven games, including in three straight.

  • First Goal Before 9:30 (-125)

Dallas and Philadelphia both have seen the first goal before this mark in four of their last six games. This prop has cooled off slightly since the Flyers hit eight times in a row but the Flyers falling behind early has been a regular theme this season.
