Gambler’s Guide: Columbus Blue Jackets vs Philadelphia Flyers

Columbus Blue Jackets vs Philadelphia Flyers

Tonight is the moment of truth, sitting on a nine game losing streak entering their matchup with the Blue Jackets, the Flyers are trying to avoid the humiliation of having two 10 game losing streaks in less than two months. The Gambler’s Guide went 2 for 5 against the Islanders.

Money Line and Total

For the first time in what feels like a decade the Flyers (-125) are the favorites for tonight’s game. Being the favorite does alter the trends a bit for the Flyers, they’re 4-1 in their last five as home favorites and 5-2 in their last seven overall as favorites. The favorite is also 11-5 in the last sixteen meetings between these two teams and the home team is 23-11 in their last thirty-four head to head games.

The Blue Jackets (+105) enter tonight’s matchup as the underdogs, and they’re 17-42 in their last fifty-nine games as the underdogs. They’re also 17-43 in their last sixty road games, 5-13 in their last eighteen overall and 0-4 in the last four head to head matchups with the Flyers.

Two bad teams clash in this one tonight, Philadelphia is trending in the right direction and desperation is setting in. Considering the Blue Jackets road struggles and the Flyers ability to win the games the odds makers expect them to, the Flyers (-125) is the play tonight.

The total is set at 6 (O -110, U -110) and the recent trends tell a good story for the over. On Columbus’ side the over has been hot, going 6-2 in their last eight as underdogs, 10-3 in their last thirteen against the Eastern Conference and is 35-15-2 in their last fifty-two overall. While the Flyers have hit the over in nine of their last eleven home games and the over is 21-5-1 in their last twenty-seven games as favorites. Take the over tonight.

Player Props

  • Travis Konecny Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (-110)

Konecny is averaging 2.7 shots on goal for the year and having scored in back to back games he seems to be finding his confidence. A confident TK is a dangerous one, expect him to be active early and often in this one, this shots prop would also pair well with Konecny’s points prop, Over .5 (-130) if you’re feeling adventurous.

Team Props

  • Flyers Over 3.5 Goals (+125)

The Blue Jackets have give up 4 or more goals four times in their last seven games and seven times in their last eleven. Philadelphia is finding its offensive game right now and they’ve been streaky scorers all year with two different runs this year of scoring 4+ goals four times in five games.

Game Props

  • Both Teams to Score 2+ Goals, Yes (-195)

The Flyers have seen both teams reach 2 or more goals in ten of their last twelve games, Columbus and their opponents have hit 2+ goals in nine of their last eleven contests. This one sets up as a high scoring affair and both teams should get plenty of chances.
