Carolina Hurricanes vs Philadelphia Flyers
The Flyers have found their pre-All-Star Game magic and have dropped four in a row heading into today’s matchup with the Hurricanes. Carolina held off the Penguins for a 4-3 win yesterday and have won back to back games entering this one. All odds per Draftkings Sportsbook.
Money Line and Total
It pretty much goes without saying these days, the Flyers (+200) are once again the underdogs for today’s contest. It’s also getting difficult to find trends that aren’t basically ‘the Flyers lose a lot’ but we’ll try. Philadelphia is 7-21 in their last 28 games as home underdogs, 2-8 in their last 10 overall and 6-21 in their last 27 games against teams with winning percentages over .600.
The Hurricanes (-235) are currently leading the Metro division and have established themselves as legitimate Stanley Cup contenders. Impressively the Canes have been very good in the third game in 3-in-4 situations, having gone 24-8 in their last 32 in that situation. They’re also 12-4 in their last 16 games as road favorites and the favorite is 6-2 in the last 8 head to head games between these two.
While everything is pointing to a Hurricanes win today, the Flyers have been playing better recently and Philadelphia has won or lost by just a single goal in 6 of the last 7 matchups with Carolina. The Hurricanes also tend to play in close games with 8 of their last 10 being decided by one goal. Let’s take the Flyers +1.5 (-120) today.
The total is set at 6.5 (O -105 U -115) and, mostly because the Flyers can’t seem to stop anyone, the over looks good once again. Head to head the over is 13-6 in the last 19 meetings overall and 8-3-1 in the last 12 in Philadelphia. The over is 5-1 in the last 6 Carolina games as road favorites and 5-2 in their last 7 overall. The over is 4-0 in the Flyers last 4 overall, 6-0 in their last 6 against the Eastern Conference and 5-1 in their last 6 as underdogs. Take the over today.
Prop Bets
- Martin Jones Over 29.5 Saves (-120)
It’s no secret that the Flyers allow plenty of shots against, 33.95 per game to be precise, however Carolina is also going to do their part as they bring an average of 33.04 shots per game into this contest. Jones has a strong chance to see 35+ shots in this one and could allow 3+ goals and still cover.
- Travis Konecny Over 2.5 Shots on Goal (+110)/Anytime Goal Scorer (+320)
Konecny has been the most noticeable Flyers forward since the break and he’s cleared this mark in 3 of his last 5 games. While he’s been inconsistent this year and trusting him to continue his strong play is risky, the odds are good and it would be a bold move to double down on his recent strong play and include the Konecny anytime goal scorer bet.
The Five for Tonight
- Flyers +1.5
- Over 6.5
- Martin Jones Over 29.5 Saves
- Travis Konecny Over 2.5 Shots on Goal
- Travis Konecny Anytime Goal Scorer
