Tyson Foerster began the 2022-23 AHL playoffs playing chess while Charlotte played Checkers…

After leading the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in scoring this season with 48 points in 66 games, Tyson Foerster picked up right where he left off as he scored two huge goals en route to a Phantoms Game 1 victory.

By now you know about my admiration for the Flyers 2020 first round pick (23 overall). I love the kid. He’s going to be a massive piece for the Flyers going forward and his success should be celebrated. Foerster is part of the Flyers new core

A big bodied player with a bomb shot, the 21 year old Foerster scored 20 goals this season as a Phantom. During his late season eight game stint with the Flyers, Foerster would amass 7 points and score three highlight reel goals. Goals that made all Flyers fans take notice.

The Phantoms won 4-3 on Tuesday, racing out to a 4-1 lead on the back of a pair of goals from Foerster. They play Charlotte once again on Thursday night. A win would mean the Phantoms advance to the second round.

All goals combined on the season between the Flyers, Phantoms, and playoffs, Foerster scored 25 goals. Three with the Flyers, 20 regular season goals with Lehigh, and the 2 playoff goals last night.

For good measure, here’s Tyson Foerster’s first goal of the 2022-23 season. Go Phantoms.
