Flyers Prospect Advances to National Title Game


Minnesota defeated Boston University yesterday en route to back-to-back trips to the National Title game

Sam Stevens would open the scoring for Boston University mid way through the first period to put BU up 1-0.

Minnesota would answer with two of their own in a span of 50 seconds to end the first period up 2-1 with power play goals from Mike Koster and Rhett Pitlick.

Flyers Prospects

Flyers 2018 first round pick (19th overall), Jay O’Brien, pulled BU even at 2-2 with a tipped power play goal from the point.

The score remained tied late in the second when Flyers 2019 seventh round pick (196th overall) Bryce Brodzinski came within inches of giving Minnesota a 3-2 lead.

After a parade to the penalty box from Boston University, Minnesota would finally cash in as Luke Mittelstadt ripped home the first of two goals in a span of a minute a 49 seconds to put Minnesota up 3-2 and then 4-2.

Brodzinski would assist on the first of Mittelstadt’s two goals.

Arizona Coyotes prospect Logan Cooley would put the icing on the cake for Minnesota with two empty-net goals and Minnesota would go on to win 6-2.

National Title Game

They’ll face Quinnipiac in the National Title game Saturday night at 8pm Eastern Standard Time.

This will be the second year in a a row the Flyers have had a prospect play in the National Championship.
