“The Philadelphia Flyers have signed forward Tanner Laczynski to a two-year, tw0-way/one-way contract with an average annual value of $762,500, according to President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Chuck Fletcher.”
Appearing in just one game last season with the Flyers, Laczynski had a decent year down in Lehigh Valley with the Phantoms as he posted seven goals and 10 assists in 28 games.
Coming off a torn labrum in his hip, yes the same injury Bobby Brink just underwent surgery for, Laczynski persevered yet again to make a somewhat unexpected return last season.
You see the most recent surgery for Laczynski was his third in just under a year and a half so battling back is nothing new for Tanner.
A few years ago I wrote an article about how Tanner Laczynski could be the Flyers “diamond in the rough prospect” and I still believe he could be a serviceable bottom 6 player, if only he can avoid more injuries.
Laczynski spent four seasons at Ohio State and amassed 143 points in 138 games while also leading his team in scoring during his senior season. He also led OSU in scoring during two of his last three seasons and was named First Team All-Big Ten in 2018.
While most, including myself, are not expecting huge things from Laczynski this season, it would be a very pleasant surprise to see him carve out a roll on this Flyers roster.
