NHL Free Agency began Saturday July, 1st and the Philadelphia Flyers signed two quality depth forwards in Ryan Poehling and Garnet Hathaway.
Ryan Poehling
A former first round pick of the Montreal Canadiens back in 2017, Poehling split time between Montreal and Laval of the AHL for three seasons before signing with Pittsburgh last off-season. Poehling is a 6-2 Center and will begin next season at 24 years old.
The Flyers signed him to a one-year deal worth $1.4 million.
Garnet Hathaway
The Flyers second signing of the day happened to be 31-year old, Garnet Hathaway. Hathaway finished the 2022-23 season with the Boston Bruins after being traded from Washington at the trade deadline. In 2021-22 he recorded a career high in goals (14) and points (26).
Hathaway can play both wings but plays primarily on the right side. Flyers General Manager, Danny Briere, signed the eight-year veteran to a two-year deal that comes with a $2.375 million cap hit.
